Phoenix Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are the best method for restoring a broken tooth, or if a tooth requires a large filling, to keep it from breaking apart. If you have a large cavity amalgam fillings will not fully support the decayed tooth structure. In fact, amalgam fillings may even weaken the tooth more and cause it to break. Adversely, composite fillings may support and strengthen the tooth because of the bonding process. That is if there is enough tooth structure remaining. If too much tooth structure is missing, the best method of protection is a dental crown. A dental crown will completely cover the tooth and prevent it from fracturing.
Dental Crowns require two appointments
Dental crowns normally require two appointments. During the first appointment, we will prepare the tooth, make an impression of it, and place a temporary crown on it. The impression is then sent to a dental laboratory where it is fabricated to precisely fit your tooth and into your bite.
Custom matched and fitted temporary crowns
Wearing temporary crowns have been known to be a little inconvenient or unattractive looking, but that’s not the case at Paradise Ridge Dentistry. Your comfort and appearance is our number one concern. That’s why we custom match and fit the temporary crown to look as natural as possible.
It is important though not put off your follow-up appointment when your permanent crown comes back from the laboratory, because temporary crowns are not designed as a permanent solution for protecting your tooth.
Come in and see us if you need a checkup or are in need of a dental crown. We provide caring and gentle dentistry for you and your entire family seven days a week.
